In this video installation shot in Chiasso, Switzerland, I chose some immigrant people who are prevented from traveling for various reasons (permits, jobs, choice not to leave the territory, etc.). I thought I could enter their imaginary thoughts about the journey they cannot make, but which is always present in their minds. I wondered what elements characterize this nostalgia and how the origins and experiences they had to leave behind are called to mind. So I filmed and collected the visual content of their cell phones, the moments when they digitally connected to people living in their home countries, the views, the landscape, and the interiors of their homes. I chose as the sound accompanying the images of these parallels between the two experienced cultural realities, real sounds that I recorded during an airplane trip.
