La Margna
La Margna
Fine art print on cotton paper, 60 x 48 cm
The image that opens and closes the exhibition is the Piz da la Margna massif overlooking the village of Sils, the scene of some of the events that inspired the artist. The profile of this mountain recursin numerous photographs from various eras exhibited in the showcases and in some frames of the video, where it seems to merge with the profiles of bodies in motion. As often happens in Aline d’Auria’s work, places do not simply serve as a backdrop to the narration of a story but become themselves an integrating part of the tale, mirrors and amplifiers of complex inner realities. In the photograph “La Margna”, the peak is caught at dusk, its image reflected in a patch of melted snow: the mountain from which one escapes and to which one returns, the mountain one dreams of, the mountain one fears and on which one can perhaps find freedom. *
